It use to be called the live aboard community and you could slip one of them a few bucks now and then to keep an eye on your boat for you....sadly many marinas are not allowing live-a-boards any more.

Sorry to hear about this Therapy.

I would dearly love to catch the low rent S.O.B. that stole your gear. We have large crab pots here that you can put a body in and you don't even have to chop them up and once you dump them in 50 fathoms of water, the sea lice take care of the rest, no worries about them floating to the surface.

live aboards? Yes

Last year we had a sort of rolling ongoing problem with vandalism and petty theft in PL marina. I had my stern line cut and the power was turned off to Idora on several occasions. I was not the only one. This year we have several live aboards over wintering at our dock and thus far not a single thing has happened. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. I hope it keeps up like this all the time.

Ah yes. Our club just kicked all the live-aboard out for the winter. I've had my boat broken into once. I didn't loose anything other than a brand new Odin flare pistol and cartridges that I'd forgot to take off on the last load to the car. With the live-aboards we had people there to keep an eye on things but the omnipotent ones decided they were cheapskates who were living a life subsidized by regular members, used the clubhouse excessively etc or some other baloney. So they gave them 3 weeks to get ready to haul out, find new digs ashore and move. Now we have lost the people who took care of the club in winter, shoveled the snow, checked that the heating was on, made sure the pipes didn't freeze, walked the yard at odd hours to check for intruders and other things. Now all we have is an OOD for 3 hrs four nites of the week. Plus those who come down for darts during the week. The building is going to be empty this winter for the most part and I expect the thefts will increase again. I'm going to strip the boat bare this time and leave it accessible. Last time they sliced a brand new $350 tarp to shreds so they could get in.

But its all good. We have insurance.

I was wondering about Marina Security, It seems to SUCK. Cameras may not show faces, but it will show Where the thief came from, How they got in, and IF they are your Neighbor !

So, like I said.

I need to get a good crimping tool and a lot of connectors so I can install the new one.

I can't find my link to the place many recommend for quality Anchor terminals, tools and such.

Anybody have that site saved?

Thanks in advance.

May be its time the manufactures had a built in password protection system so that when they are shut down they become locked down and if stolen they cant be used un less a pin code is entered on powering up again ?

lots of car radios like that now.

When stolen by those that don't know they just get thrown in the trash.

Same result for owner.
