You know I jousted with that guy. He had a quarter of a mil to spend right? And I wonder about that circumcision. Was he the first in his country to get one? Could well be. But my least fav are the guys George mentioned that come on strong telling us what they're going to do. And when. And for how much as if those issues had simple answers.

I started with Sailnet but didn't last long when I realized that Mr Sailing Dog is the big guru over there with thousands of posts... like 30 thou in 3 years. When does he go to work? And what is he thinking? He's a sharp cookie but come on.

Yes sarafina…..It’s good to know that my sextant will react if severely beaten….. but will it ever again feel loved and appreciated and rise to the occasion of it’s own accord? ….

we must never forget that our dead horses once served a noble purpose..

re: The Top 10 Dead Horses

I've been laughing too much in this thread to remember: is one of the undead horses an electric drive?

Guilty, at least once.

But I learned my lesson.

re: The Top 10 Dead Horses

It is kind of interesting that there are some topics that seem to generate universal interest and endless controversy.

I get that in politics that it is pretty much the nature of the beast, but I am surprised, often, by how obstinately passionate we can be about our boating issues.

I am trying to think of other communities I have participated in where personal opinion and experience would lead to such strong positions and to be honest I can't think of one.

Is it the forum environment? Do you all experience the sailing community as holding the same strength of opinion when on the dock instead of online?

Honourable mention mostly-dead horse: the [mastaft/ketch/cutter/gaff/brigantine/junk/dynarig/sprit/crab-claw] rig is superior in [repairability/cheapness/upwind/downwind/sinking/required runway]

OMG! Can I submit Cetol vs varnish vs teak oil vs (whatever) for stall #12? I can't believe no one's mentioned it yet!
