Today, this 300ft monster is actually blocking out the rising sun. The sailboat next to it has a 225ft tall mast to put the picture into perspective.

We were anchored 20 miles south of Olbia last week for a few days in an anchorage off the beaten path. The day after arrival, an Oyster 53 drops their anchor 50 meters from us, the very first 53 we've seen in three years. Very nice German couple we shared some time and meals with. The next day... a third Oyster 53 drops anchor 50 meters behind the Germans.... Now we have 10% of the total production run of the Oyster 53 anchored by chance within 100 meters of us. A very pleasant Irish family who just pruchased their boat in Palma.

Later the same day whilst heading over to the marina two kilometers away... Can it be... Another 53 in the next anchorage. Not quite, a 49 with an American couple setting off on the great adventure aboard thier yacht just prurchased in Palma two months ago.

Later the same afternoon on the way back from visiting the American couple.... another Oyster anchored behind the Irish family. Didn't get a chance to meet them, as they were gone early the next morning.

thats it then. World doom is imminent! The gathering of the Oysters signifies it. In the Med too.

Rained here for a while. By a while Im talking in terms of days. There is no finer summer weather in the world than in the UK........ this year its on September 1st, in the afternoon.

I departed the UKs shores for sunnier climes in 1989 and did not return until 2011. Nothing has changed.

It is a feat of endurance to sail in the UK.

Me, no, but we have friends who are trying to sell. And also friends at Sunbird. I think it's a positive indication of the economy if boats are selling.

I guess you must have missed watching the news over this past week. The Chinese economy and stock market is a disaster, the U.S. Stock market lost over one trillion in value over a two day period with nearly a 1000 point drop, the German stock market is down 18%. Tell your friends to sell now.

We have nothing else to do but watch the market Ken!

The friends have been trying to sell their Nauticat 331 for a year now. They're asking too much, but have just moved it from Mallorca to England so hope to have more success there.

I will be pleased if they sell over here, however our market is cut throat... even from a month ago.

The location is irrelevant if it's priced too high. If a boat has not sold by this time of year, it will most likely, still be for sale in June of next season.

I agree Ken.

I also believe that Palma is not the best place to sell a Nauticat. In Palma, many potential owners would need the price low enough for them to transport her to a cooler climate.

Speaking of cooler climates ... there was snow in Calgary & Western Alberta yesterday.
