I agree with you, our lives are in chapters and often its time to turn the page.

Owning shares is a much smarter way to fly. The microlights are a lot of fun, I've only flown 2 of them and both were test flights for friends who built them but its flying at its most basic level and thats always a breath of fresh air. Your friends own some high tech machines

Neuro surgeon for the Cirrus and the Avanti is part of a charter fleet. My buddy was a helicopter shuttle pilot for Bond and got into fixed wing a few years ago......... I think the Avanti is my favourite aircraft. 400knots at low fuel burn compared to jets........ comfortable and quiet.

Cirrus is in my league but the Avanti is way out in left field. Like boats the smart folks are the ones with friends that own these toys..you are lucky in your choice of friends!

I have always found boat and aircraft owners to be generous in their willingness to share their love of the toys to appreciative folk. Back in the 80s, I was in Santa Ponsa Marina looking at this gorgeous Ketch for a long time. The next day I found myself sitting on a bollard watching it again. A man walked by, a Dutch guy and we exchanged pleasantries. He asked what I was looking at and I told him that whomever designed the boat had an eye for history and character and understated lines that were simply so beautifully done that I was enjoying just looking at it. Well it was his boat and I got the grand tour and coffee and a lasting distant friendship via mail until his death in 2002.

I feel the same way. I haven't flown in over 5 years now. Sometimes I look wistfully up at a passing a/c, but not too often. I have no interest in basic stick & rudder flying; I like the high & fast IFR world, and that isn't something you can do privately. I don't have friends with that type of a/c. What I'd really enjoy is to get into a good sim & fly some holds & approaches--but even sim time is expensive & hard to come by.

So when I'm not sailing I hang out on CF...

Prairie Chickens do fly Ken, but not being a prairie boy I'll forgive you for not knowing that.

Re: The Mallorca Squad

True... I'm due for my weekly shower today.

Hoppy,

Do you wanna join the squad? I'll need to get permission from the Grand Poopah first, but I'm sure he'll let you in.

Geez, he let that ape join.

Ken
