Re: The Mallorca Squad

The actual plan is to begin and complete our cruising adventures out of Sardinia each year. Olbia is an excellent location for obtaining reliable, high quality marine services and is located only 10 minutes from the airport.

We then plan to head out cruising to all corners of the Med from there since it's a very central location. This year, Coastal mainland Italy, Montenegro, Greece and possibly a stop in Albania. Next season, maybe a short trip over to Mallorca then off to Greece and Turkey. But that would require some substantial backtracking. Hopefully, I can locate a technician here in Italy to install and program a lithium battery set up. I know they are here, I just need to find one.

Sounds to me Ken that you will be keeping the Oyster for a while. Even though boatless here on the Island (NEARLY almost, so close to getting the Centaur out here..) I have been out on several beautiful crafts of all persuasions. Large motor boats, Monos and 2 Catamarans.

I need to know if Britain is in or out of the EU... the whole game plan changes if we are out.

I was originally for leaving. Then I sat and thought that the problem is not Europe per se, its is the British government for looking after themselves and blaming Europe for everything....a good brit gov would do more to protect. The EU is a great idea, poorly executed except if you are Germany then they win hands down. Britain has been in 43 years and a generation has grown up with benefits they do not realise. Prices will rise and jobs and industries will go if we exit. holidays will return to nightmares of visas and security and tax payments on everything purchased.

Sometimes its best to accept the tentacles are too tight. Better to stay in and undo the knots from there...

Re: The Mallorca Squad

Glad you're feeling better Weavis. Yes, I'd seen the Sardinia thread. It's a good idea. Hopefully at some point I'll pay attention to it. Like you, we really are only in the Balearics, & almost always Mallorca.

Has Boatie got a thread running for this crossing? I hadn't noticed one.

We are always looking for a powercat, something in the 47-60ft range. Just waiting for the right deal to come our way which may take a year or two to happen. A used Sunreef sailing cat is coming within reach.

There's a Mastervolt store just outside the gates to Gouvia Marina if you want to go down their lithium battery route. There are a couple of other electrical technician company's here as well.

Re: The Mallorca Squad

Wevis, under the EU rules if the UK votes out, they will leave the EU 2 years after they inform the EU. In that time there will be plenty of time for trade treaties and visa regulations to be put in place. The EU might talk tough now but if it comes to a Brexit, they will negotiate treaties that will be best for everyone.

Spain will not want to lose the British holiday makers, holiday home owners and retiree residents as they probably bring a lot of money to the economy, so if UK passport holders get restricted to the 3 month Schengen, the Spanish will (if they are not crazy) make some long term visas available.

The EU was never a good idea. Nationalism cannot be eliminated from EU. There are too many deep roots in history. UK is taking a tremendous hit while other countries reap the benefit. UK was never really fully in the EU anyway, having their own currency instead of the Euro.

But leaving at this point would be worse. I want them to leave, but they can't.

Please pm their information to me if you get a change. Are they in Greece or Italy? Our present system is Mastervolt.

Nah, it was a great idea poorly implemented and now it's impossible to correct with countries vetoing any changes that could correct the EU stupidities

You take nice pictures. Which camera do you use and what is the resolution?

Re: The Mallorca Squad

I got rid of all my expensive cameras and replaced them with a Bridge Panasonic dmc fz72.

The resolution is not as good as a full frame yet as Im not publishing, its good enough....

Under the right circumstances, the camera is as good as any... when its not, there is always post production.....

My next camera will probably be the Panasonic 300 or 330....

Re: The Mallorca Squad

It has been a great feeling going out there. My plan was little extended but no worries I will be out there too.
