Re: The Mallorca Squad

Good one Weavis! I'm sure that would do the trick.

Yes, the Balearics are a pretty nice cruising area. Large enough for plenty of variety while small enough to learn your way around well. While seeing new places still has lots of allure for me, there is a lot said for knowing your cruising grounds. It takes a lot of the stress off in that you have a pretty good idea where the rocks are, the best anchorages for a particular wind or mood, the best supermercados, chandleries & restaurants. You get to see the same friends year after year. You even get to learn where the hospitals & doctors are. It works for us.

I like the familiarity of the place. Firs there in the 80s and bonded immediately.

Re: The Mallorca Squad

Im left handed.

I have a Right handed Gibson SG that has been in a case, all the parts disassembled since the 80s. Went to the storage last week and brought a few things home. That was one.

I put it together, restrung it and put it to the amp. Sounded terrible. Took it to A.J. a local friend and guitar enthusiast. He looked at it and said to leave it with him.

This afternoon he gave me a call. I went around and listened to the most amazing sounds coming from it. He wanted it. He made me an offer and I accepted.

I told him that I couldnt get it to sound like that. A.J. said I needed a while working with guitars to get the knowledge as opposed to playing them.

I left my Fender acoustic with him to lower the action and refret. His abilities are amazing and he will do an exceptional job.

A.J. has known me since I was 11 years old. He must be in his late 70s now. I was playing guitar then and he encouraged me mightily. A nice and special man.

Some people are good for a soul.

I know a few like that. And consider myself lucky to know them.

Won't work on me. I get side effects, like holding my arse in my coworkers direction and whistling "Gather Round My Hat" out of it.

Re: The Mallorca Squad

One of two major family medical issues solved. nieces child has not been able to talk more than 2 words without losing her voice until recently...... as you can see, my treatment has finally kicked in this month. Her voice is strengthening all the time. Her hearing is unaffected and in the last 2 weeks she has harmonized (in a childs way) with the melody.
I expect a full recovery.
