Re: The Mallorca Squad

So.
Picked up a couple of family members at the Station and went around to the house. I think when the family came in and I was there, the ‘patient’ knew something was amiss.

We sat and talked and I explained the situation carefully and as thoroughly as I could. I laid out the options for treatment and I gave my recommendations and actions to take. We arranged to meet in my clinic in the morning to discuss the choice made.

Ive done this lots of times, talk to people I mean, telling them that their life expectancy is suspect and needs serious attention, or at worse, shortened within a recognised time frame. It was a little different this visit, looking at the face of a 30 year old adult that I recall as baby and then a toddler and then through the years. It always is a wrenching feeling to be the giver of bad news, and yet with this child. there was none of the quiet deep desperation I usually am swamped by, just an overwhelming feeling of love and care and gratitude for having them in my life no matter how long or short.

This kid aint being let go so easily.

I see in the eyes, that acceptance was already setting in. The patient had not felt on top form for a while and only came to the clinic when some symptoms worsened.

I was asked one question, “Are you sure?” the only questioned needed to move to the next step.

Never one to feel sorry for self, always a practical person, and closest to me in temperament, the thoughts turned to the children and partner and what needed to be done for them. I left the family to discuss things and came back to the office.

Reflecting on life, there are many things that we do as teenagers that are downright stupid. Some have repercussions later in life, and I rather suspect that this is a contributory factor in this case. idiot!

Well- I hear no fat women singing and thus the fight is on. Im pretty good at my job, now I have to become very amazing.

No sweat. We can do this.

Re: The Mallorca Squad

I will be in Seville early December and if my presence is not required here, will be in Mallorca for the remainder of December and possibly January. Not boating season in general but I think it will be for me.

Head is clear now Salty- The tea worked fine

Enough misery........ I have work to do!

My favourite line from the film Beaches with Bette Midler. She had just been talking non stop to her new friend and then said: "well that enough about me. Lets talk about you. What do you think about me?"

Got some great advice about drilling holes in Balsa core and how to fill it to stop water ingress.

Ahem! Its a 39, I desire. Two cabin premium layout. Now I am grumpy.

I desire to visit Haworth and buy a monkey cottage on the moors.

I will have a dog named Dogan and write novels.

Re: The Mallorca Squad

Then again I wouldn't mind a few other realistic boats:
- PSC 34
- IP 38
- Fischer 34
- Some ketch with a rear cabin.

Re: The Mallorca Squad

Grrr

After a series of unauthorised withdrawals from my bank via the credit/debit card, (and several months to be reimbursed) I went out and purchased 'Cash passport' debit cards and loaded an amount on each. (2 accounts and 2 cards per account). This way I have access to ATMS and pay bills and some security as its only valid to the maximum amount on it. Ive used it all over the world with no issues.

Today, I went to RyanAir to book a flight and the computer process refused my card. I phoned the office and finally got told that they dont accept Mastercard debit with 'Cash Passport'. I asked why. Got no sensible answer so I hung up and went to EasyJet to book. I phoned them first and was told that the consensus was that RyanAir did not make enough money accepting 'Cash Passport' debit cards on the fees and they had no problem with my card.

Anyhows, EasyJet reminded me I had an account with them so book in through that account which I duly did. They gave me discount and a free seat booking!

I saved £60 and go a 25% off voucher for duty free.

Way to go EasyJet.

Re: The Mallorca Squad

I've never heard of a limit Debit card. I use Virtual CC online which allows me to limit amount and expiry date, but this is good only for online purchases.

Go to Walmart. They sell Visa/Mastercards that are renewable by putting more money on them........... same thing. I dont think they are for overseas use from the USA though.

Re: The Mallorca Squad

All medical matters done, treatment arranged, day off.

Was going to go down to the boat, but would only piddle around and perhaps nap so gone home and am working on seminar details for December. Seems more productive.

Seville has the river Guadalquivir running to it and 3 years ago I looked at putting a 65 foot Cat/Barge on it for Seminars and night parties. Ran into difficulties at all levels, There are a number of bridges in the centre of the city which restrict air draught. Then there are problems with mooring, licences, fees for this and that, then the local tourist boats seem to get involved and very irritated etc. I shelved the idea but will look again in December.
