Re: The Mallorca Squad

Assembled a Shed yesterday... then got 3 hours in with a friend sailing in quite bouncy water. Then it rained again.

Was fun.

OK

Ken, sell your boat. Oyster 53 will get @$600K+
Buy a good used Catamaran for @$300K.

Keep assets accrued over a life time of working- Go sailing for 6 years. Retire, go home, sell assets, go sailing again...........

Enjoy real sailing with a Catamaran.

I can help you choose........

Re: The Mallorca Squad

NOt raining! yet.........
Will go down to the local marina this morning and help with a mast raising, unless it rains......... then I will stay here and wish them well from afar. My days of working in the rain are long over, unless its an emergency.......

After this nearly trouble free season on our boat, we're not looking to make any boat changes. Total maintenance costs this season were less than $2000 which included a complete fridge replacement.

Someday, if the right straight across exchange for a Sunreef 61 presents itself, we'd consider it, but right now, we're very pleased with the Oyster. Wouldn't even consider a switch to a Lagoon or any of the other Cats, not that there's anything wrong with them... We just don't like them.

There is nothing wrong with the Oyster. Its a beautiful boat.

I would get a Lagoon 380 for myself, and Im not overkeen on them but a stable Cat. Not a model for you.

If its about sailing for 6 years, a cheaper Cat and 300K in your pocket means you can budget at 50K a year. You dont have to go work for 6 months until the next break.

Assets at home, you can re evaluate in 6 years........

Ive seen some beautiful cheaper cats in the 40-50 foot range.

Ive come to realise that the most important thing is Time.

Make the most of it.

Re: The Mallorca Squad

Mast raising for me is not an issue this morning. Seems the yard and owners did it early doors........ Might get to go sailing on the tune up tomorrow. Woo hoo.
