Re: The Mallorca Squad

Nice one SM!

We are keeping busy sailing & showing off our beautiful island to Canadian friends who are here with their trawler. Wx was a bit unsettled for a couple of days & there were heavy rains in the north of the island but we are back to 30 C & blue skies today. The SuperYacht Cup started today & the bay was dotted with BIG spinnakers this afternoon. Tomorrow we'll take our boat & try to find the marks so the photographers on board can shoot the big boys under full sail! Sat it's a BBQ inland. Sunday we will visit the race village in the morning to see the SuperYachts up close & personal, & then take the trawler to Cabrera for a couple of nights.

Overall, situation normal on Mallorca.

Re: The Mallorca Squad

Had a few people suffering life strains at the moment.
I have a mind that collects quotes or sayings from observant people. This afternoon had a college student who came in stressed out and worried. I know him and the family and the pressures he is under.

I gave him this quote, and he went out laughing and feeling much better about himself.

"Before you diagnose yourself with depression or low self-esteem, first make sure that you are not, in fact, just surrounded by ********." - William Gibson

Re: The Mallorca Squad

Oh, I do like that one! I'm going to steal it weavis!

Good day today sailing in the bay & watching the big boys race. For whatever reason on this race none were flying head sails. I can only assume it was one of the race requirements for todays race.

SuperYacht village is open tomorrow morning, not Sunday as I first thought. That is our morning agenda.

It is always an issue for me in Marina anchorages like this, which side to aim the dinghy for.....

Went ashore and had a very nice day. Returned to Orinoco around 5pm in time for the harbor fellow to tell us we couldn't anchor there overnight. Only two anchor spots, and we weren't in one of them. One was our first pick, but changed our minds. So we headed off to Gulfo delle Saline anchorage just 8 miles away for a quiet night and probably saved 200 euros.

Don't know the actual cost, our goal is to live off the grid and outside of expensive marinas for five months. Accomplished the goal in 2014.

You will soon be round the Island...... then back to Spain-or Greece, it could become very cheap or very expensive depending.........

Gary,

You and Prairie need to get over here to see what cruising is like in Sardinia. Much cheaper than Mallorca with far superior services. No crowded rolly anchorages, plenty of beautiful scenery, fine dining and friendly natives.
