Re: SSSSM - Part Deux

hi all....update onme then i will go into why i came in today..lol
my engine did runaway diesel on me last weds, a nd i am learningit may have been lift pump generated...ok.not blownengine, not bad rings and valves, which also may have been partially responsible--am learning this online as my alleged mechanic is on vacation to borrachoville. is all good--if it isnt one thing it willbe another--is a boat, after all.....

as for my main reason for bringing you all together at this time----rodlmao....

there seem to be new folks wanting in and expressing interest, however these souls are not filing out the profile cf has, they are not complying with the mission statement as written, so i cannot allow them to come in yet...i sent messages requesting compliance, but i dont see any...... i really hope these souls fill out the required bits and come back--would be nice to meet them...

Re: SSSSM - Part Deux

filter is good--is the diaphragm in the manual lift pump..oil from crankcase was being sucked into cylinders fro burning instead of fuel...was scary as hell...thunk it would boom... rpms just kept increasing . 5 min took to crack injectors to shut her down...did not overheat, did not detonate, oil pressure was 10 pounds, and ....smoke from hell....fishermen thought we were en fuego, or on fire....they took me into marina by tow. awesome cool folks here.
figured out the lift pump today with help...whew..... so part of our work is done...now compression testing --change oil and .... have to change oil before anything--fuel is in it.

Howdy Zee!
I'll bet that puckered the old sphincter muscle!
I had a 671 run away coming into the dock once, just about ready to toss a line and away it went, still in gear! My deckhand got the line on a cleat, buy the time I got it out of gear I think it stretched that nylon dock line about twice its length.
By the time I jumped off the flying bridge and down to the engine room I think it was turning about ten grand! Took off my shirt and covered the intake to calm it down and finally choke it to death. Ruined my shirt. Damn governor spring broke!
Just another shitty day in paradise!

Good luck on the repair.

Re: SSSSM - Part Deux

thankyou---runaway is enough to kick start one's aicd and pacemaker, if they had one, and keep ye shaking from adrenaline rush then slump for 12 hours..was exciting.
6 minuets of holy whatever.....dont want to have to go thru it again...once is plenty.
we will compression test before saying anything if fixed, and we have lots of work to do before i head south again...might visit some friends in mazatlan before i leave mexico...

** Thanks Zeehag for babysitting me through the process of getting on the site.

Hi all,

I'm enjoying reading all your back posts. I'm planning to potter around the Med for the next couple of years and the site gives me a flavour into the lifestyle I am heading for. Lots of useful and informative stuff.

Thanks.

Rav.
