Re: SSSSM - Part Deux

Doesn't seem to be any sailing ladies from Texas on here. I'll be in Paris for a while in September for work. Any Parisian sailtresses, sailoresses ... er, boat girls around?

Re: SSSSM - Part Deux

Hi all

Dan the new guy from Chesapeake Bay - Virginia. I think I posted profile stuff in the wrong place but anyway. I'm 51, single, without boat for the moment, plan to be fulltime cruising within 5 years. Looking for soulmate

I have worked in the marine industry for the last 35 years and I am a SSCA Cruising Station Host in Virginia

Are there any sailing gals here on Chesapeake Bay?

Re: SSSSM - Part Deux

Well..... If I am not going to be shy. We could talk about the desired attributes of a cruising partner. I think it would be best to EXCLUDE the topic of money.
We all know its needed and every cruiser has a budget. I've seen it done for a dollar per mile to hundreds or thousands per mile.

I will start and sayIMHO both partners should be comfortable operating the boat.

underway both by sail and power
docking
anchoring
navigation
general seamanship

Captain Bliegh isn't a long term cruiser.

Re: SSSSM - Part Deux

dan--sounds like a good belief--as it is also mine.
i feel money is irrelevant--i dont have much so i dont use much. repairs are pre-planned, even emergent ones--regular inspections will allow you to know what is going to be an issue before too long and should be addressed- well timed repairs do make a difference--emergent ones kill the wallet.
mates are just that--mates, and share responsibility. they also share the adventure.

Re: SSSSM - Part Deux

Across from the academy...left of Chart house. In front of BY Boats. That dock. Changed q bit but pretty much the same.

Also, I grew up in St. Marys county for a bit in Leonardtown.

Re: SSSSM - Part Deux

You should have seen it when it was the old Trumpy yard. The Chart House was a fitting out boat shed. I worked accross the creek at Yacht Basin back in the 70's
