Re: SSSSM - Part Deux

OK, so I am not going to be heading south in a few days. I am waiting on a new heat exchanger… As I have sat here many times in the morning having my espresso in the cockpit as the sun rises, or my evening drink watching the sun set with its fires coloring the horizon on its attempt to give us one more show of magnificence I ponder these same thoughts. Anyone have the notions to join me? It seems pretty hard to find a decent, clean, intelligent, adventurous, healthy, happy, financially ok companion around the places I have been. I figure at least one of us on the boat should meet those attributes, since I don't... Anyway, I digress. The sunsets are exquisite, the sunrises are magnificent, the weather and air is so healthy, I wonder why so few are not out here doing this. Life is short, so "Need small, Want Small, Live Large on Less" (me). There are horizons over there that need to be explored by those with the passion for adventure and the tranquility the ocean and anchorages bring to one’s soul. It has come to my attention that so many are talking and dreaming and forget to take the first step. Get up off the chair and move their feet. I think there is chain attached to them ever so securely embedded in the concrete of land that they may have given up on attempts to dislodge them from it. Well, I have balled on long enough and I am sure you have better things to do that to read these ramblings from a Solo Sailor anchored in the southern anchorage area of Mazatlan, Sinaloa, Mexico. I bid each and everyone an excellent day and at least 1 step further to joining us here on the water.

Re: SSSSM - Part Deux

I'm with you on your vision, lookoutnw! I hope to be heading north toward La Paz within the next month. Would also love to find someone to sail with. I'm sure I'll find him someday, and so will you. Good luck.

Re: SSSSM - Part Deux

ok.. to anchor here....i have dead center now.. my anchor is on a 150 ft chain towards barra. many have done this also...we use long chain to prevent dragging, and it works,in reality.
bottom here is silt in suspension for about a foot of depth, then silt over something no one has yet found. is a river bed, active in summer with runoff. basically 8-14 ft depth in mean low tide.
look out for the shoaled islands inmid lagoon. if one were to come oinjto this lagoon, one would want to aim at the little beach, then when you are at that lil beach(mchales navy island) then either go to other side and anchor protected from wind but not skeeters in 10 ish feet,or to the left to anchor where everyone else does in about 8-14 ft, depending on location. where i am is fast current and wind. most folks anchor behind me ...south of my boat. and east of it. there is lots of room. you may call me when you get within range if you has a mexican fone. vhf cruisers net is at 0830 on 22. yellow water taxi is channel 23,and orange one from marys in colimilla, is 71.
mine looks like granny klampett is due to arrive any second.
.la cruz anchorage is rock strewn sandy mucky bottom not just from dredging of marina but because mexico has rocks. no protection and 20 kts winds daily 2-6pm.

Re: SSSSM - Part Deux

Yes I know it is a cheesy cut and paste but I wrote it and it's all true!
So? What's so great about me?

I have some hair on my head.
I really am interested in what you have to say.
I really do want to know "How was your day?"
I won't get mad if you dance with someone else, to tell you the truth I'd rather watch, Cause I ain't very good.
I am not looking for a one Nighter or a Hookup.
I am not in a rush to be in a "relationship", but I don't date more than one Lady at a time.
I am not interested in watching sports on TV.
I enjoy comedies, action, drama, documentaries, and nature programming.
I love photography.
I like sitting in the shade and enjoying the view.
I like cooking outdoors, indoors, or on a boat.
I like hanging out at the lake or the coast.
I like long walks on the beach or in a forest.
I like to watch Karoake.
I like camping.
I like Geocaching but it's not much fun by yourself.
I do my own laundry.
I am debt free! Yee Haw!!!
I want to learn to scuba and snorkel.
And play a little guitar maybe.

What's wrong with Me?

I travel a lot for work.
I can get distracted and forget to call.
I love good food so I am overweight.
I probably spend too much time fishing.
I forget to open doors sometimes. (But always pump the gas!).
I would rather read a how-to book than a novel.

What am I looking for?
I would like to find someone who could enjoy sailing. or at least hang out at the boat or beach. This is important, and may be a deal breaker!
I really enjoy being on the water.
I like power boating too, it's just that sailing is more the journey than the destination.
Or a power boat is transportation. A sailboat is the destination.
I have my own sailboat. Catalina 22. It is my starter boat. I almost got it started once..Ha Ha!
It is great for weekend cruises.

I plan on sailing the Florida Keys and Bahamas, maybe further.

I like most music, but rap or hip-hop in very small doses.

Did I mention sailing?

Re: SSSSM - Part Deux

I wonder about starting to ask questions on here so we get to know each other better. Like one person asks the question and everyone posts their answer to it. What do you think? I for one would like to get to know you better.

Good idea but might be like herding cats! I did really appreciate your post with all the detail about who you are. Of course, the way this group is organized, those detailed personal who, where, what, why, etc have been posted on the "social group" site [http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...ul+mates.html], rather than here in the thread. So maybe you could go there to learn more about some of us.

Yes! I'll try.
Any senior [60 +] males on this thread? I'm a woman in that age group, but younger at heart. Looking for a cruising companion, my boat or yours. Let's talk!

Re: SSSSM - Part Deux

My name is Francois. I apologize for my poor English. But I am French and I have learned English only at the age of 20 because I was not listening at school. There's not only English that I didn't listen ... I was not made for school.
Since very young I dreamed of great journeys and beautiful sandy beaches.
Like many I was married and have a son of 18 years. He have is head on the shoulders.
I'm separated since 2008 and in 2012 I bought the boat of my dreams: A Shpountz. It's a schooner from the plans of D. Bombigher.
I am 49 years old ... The time flies!
I wish I could meet a woman to share my passions of traveling, diving and also know and appreciate his passion. She's may be here on this forum ...
I have all the defects which leaves me the pleasure of having all the qualities of my faults.
I can speak english (I hope), German and French
Here for the first presentation.
Cheers
François
