I have had occasional mouse problems in the past...not aboard, thank Neptune...and the stock issue Victor trap is quick and I don't really care if it's painless so much as efficient. Boom, head shot. Yes, sometimes it's messy. Hunting always is.

Glue, on the other hand, is like a land mine. It cripples but does not kill and requires that the mouse struggle, sometimes for hours.

I don't like the little bastards, but I don't insist they suffer because I am squeamish about killing them in the first place. I won't use Warfarin on the same basis.

Since I got a rescue cat, fairly experienced in finding her own supper, the mouse problem has completely abated. I hear one, and within 48 hours I hear a lot of rapid movement and I see a tail out of the corner of the cat's mouth. Everyone is happy...except the mouse, I suppose.

With a cat onboard its not an issue anymore but I have no problem with the miserable vermin suffering a bit. They're a filthy destructive disease carrier. If they suffer a bit before I dispatch them my conscience is clear. Turning them loose just makes their filth and disease somebody else's problem. On a sticky trap? Fold it up, quick squeeze and into the dustbin. Mama doesn't like it? Tell her to Google hantavirus.

As a child, my pet was a little white mouse. Until my sister let it outside one day never to return. I had nightmares for days wondering what horrid demise 'Charlie' had met. The Victor Tin Cat is an effective no-kill trap. I use it for catch-and-release in the barn. I then take the trap far out into the woods and let the mice go. The trick is to not release them too close to your home / boat.

A little peanut butter on an old fashioned snap trap. then flush. Takes all of 10 seconds including the washing of hands.

Sticky bait's usually catch more than the moussie! Easiest way is straight into a plastic bag, seal and freeze for ten minutes, remove and place in skip.
Wifey/partner see no Beady eyes looking at them and every cooking show teaches them that freezing animals is HUMANE!!!!

Dude, you're in Cali? So you take it to the local Animal Rescue Society, or put it in a box and mail it to PETA. Keeps the gf happy and the critter won't be back again.
