does anyone notice the high amount of people that hang out in marinas that are not boaters or boat owners, more just for the social scene?

I don't mean to be intrusive little monkey, but when you have a job, just exactly what do you do? Play cello for orchestra, direct orchestra or sing on street corners near the wharf? Curious minds would like to know.

As for your novel: The monkey goes to Romania in search of true love, hitches a ride with a band of gypsies in their wagon and teaches them to play the cello in return for monkey food. Along the way, he falls in love with a blue eyed gypsy girl who bears him 13 half gypsy children so they can man the rigging on his Romanian square rigger he finds on the cheap in the port of Costanza.

Just as the monkey's square rigged three masted steel hulled boat is ready to launch, his wife and mother of 13 children is kidnapped by a rival band of gypsies, so the little monkey leaves the boat in the command of his eldest son and sets out to recapture the love of his life, the blue eyed gypsy.

That's a good start little monkey, you can fill in the details and create the ending on your own. A share of the royalties and movie deals would be appreciated.

Regards,

me

Saltymonkey was in software but has degrees in music composition from various evil educational organizations, although he is rapidly become adept at singing fly songs and learning to steer wheelie painted wagons while playing the piano.

Oh what a dream story Y66! I must get started right away!!!

Lots of money to be made if you good music man on street. Wheel your cello up to popular street corner near wharf and play sweet monkey music, leave case open, coins will flow. Honest.

Good luck with story, I think I gave you a good start. Better yet, go there, live the story!

Anyone sail the Great Lakes?

When I joined I was a Seattle Sailor, now in Michigan.
Would like to meet other Sailors in the area.
Although I guess since it freezes up here, wont be doing any sailing till Spring ! Yikes.

Now we know it's fiction!

Ah wait -- second-guessing my knee-jerk prejudices, I googled "blue-eyed gypsy." Lots of results, not all of them suitable for viewing in most places of work. And it turns out that light-eyed Roma might exist.

What is with you and blue eyes, Thomas? For UV-resistance and aesthetics, I've long fostered more than a tinge of brown-eye envy. So it's nice to know someone out there appreciates us melatonin-challenged folk.

I dunno, guess it's the Swede in me that makes me lean towards blue eyes. For the record, there are Gypsy bands who are very fair. Red and blond hair, blue eyes, etc. That really surprised me, but it's true. So, the blue eyed gypsy is actually quite real. Like I said, they are almost caricatures out of a 30's movie. Quite an experience there in Romania. Try it, you might like it!
