Heh -- I didn't say that nobody here was looking. The thread foundress was, and got lucky.

There were some niiiiiiiice fellas in the engine workshops I took a couple decades ago. Too bad I was too religious at the time to appreciate it much. Margo, maybe that's incentive enough for you to take SaltyMonkey's suggestion, if not for the pure enjoyment of a well-running machine?

Margo.... dunno if you have this set-up already but.... fit a couple of in-line car fuel filters in the fuel line before it reahes your expensive fuel filter... they cost pennies to replace... instead of the $'s the big one will....

Well, for those concerned about me and my repairs, the problem is one of overheating. Took some tracking down, as several things were problematic. But the trail ended, so far, at a failed thermostat, which failed "off" so no heating was being sensed, so cooling water wasn't circulating. I'm waiting for the part now - hoping to get it in by Monday. I'm hoping that's the end of the line of problems, and nothing else is left after that's replaced.

So as far as I know, there's no problem with fuel or filters, etc.

As to taking a class, that will have to wait until at least next spring/summer, since I've got my cruise all planned. Once I get to Pacific Central America in May, I'll be ready for a break. I might travel to California to visit family. Maybe I could find a class to take then. For me the problem is as much one of not having the grip to do a lot of things anymore that used to be easy. My joints are failing me. Whoever said getting old is not for wimps was not kidding!

Margo
Flax seed oil, 1 t'spoon 3 times daily

Epsom salts, Mix 3 tablespoons of fresh lemon juice and 3 tablespoons of Epsom Salt in one pint of warm water and take one teaspoon in the morning and one at night.

Alfalfa Seed Tea,

1/2 t'spoon cinnamon, 1 tablespoon honey every morning

Cod Liver Oil

Tumeric and Fresh Ginger are also very good... I've used Tumeric for a variety of thing including bad cuts as a form of antibiotic...

Try any of these as a combination or individually... personally I'd go for the bottom 3 in red..
Oh... and a swim every day...

Congrats on the problemo fixoreno...concerned the over heating might have caused damage. Hope you will be AOK. Like I said, everyone seems to have engine or shaft problems. Both my boats had major major problems - one almost sank me; another kept me from doing anything that could sink me or even sailing!!

Salty,

Sounds like curried chicken to me!

And thanks for hte course web sites. But none are in the Bay area - that's where I'd have a place to stay while going, so that's where I'd look.

And thanks, Phil, but my joint problems are way past such kindly "natural" approaches. Already had my knees replaced - bionic! But no help for the other joints except monster strength NSAIDS. Inherited it from my Mom; I try to be philosophical.

Yikes - TMI!

Margo

margo--i do know something that WILL work--i didnt believe it until i tried it--i have arthur secondary to reynauds disease-- so regular arthritis stuff isnt appropriate-- but this stuff does--is elephant tree tea-- made from the bark or twigs fr om the elephant tree that grows in central baja. is a native baja indian remedy and truly does work.
make tea of the bark of the elephant tree and drink 2 times every day--m0rn9ing and evening-- for 15 days then STOP. should work for looong time-- last i saw my friend who told meof it -- was 6 years ago and he was 4 yrs into it and was still good-- only have to take one 15 day dose. mine lasted 4 1/2 months.waah but was a wonderful 4 1/2 months.. totally pain free.
