Really irritates me since I actually lived in the SF area for several years!! Great place and gorgeous seas, until now I guess!! thanks for sharing!

It's not as bad as it could be. All the oil is off the water and the shore cleanup is progressing on Angel Island and Brooks Island.

It could have been a lot worse. In a sense, it is a good thing we had a relatively small spill before we ever have a big spill. This was in a sense a beta test for the government agencies etc which are responsible for managing the spill. Much went wrong and hopefully they can learn by the mistakes made this time.

I can make out the blocke that I grew up on from the picture. The Bay looks like a bottle of oil and vinegar salad dressing that has been let stand for a few days. Lat 38 ran an article about people filing claims for damage caused to their boats by the spill.

My boat is in San Leandro and apparently the oil never came in that far but Berkely got clobbered!
