I didn't catch this mornings update but as of yesterday morning there were 33 still stuck. At least 3 are expected to sink from ice damage. A dozen have been abandoned and salvage crews are on site waiting for some leads in the ice to open so they can get to the boats.

Only seems fair to me. Sometimes the sealers win, sometimes the seals do. This year, the seals were coming out ahead.

Don't think the seals will ever get ahead unless they can get some automatic weapons and rocket propelled grenades. I'd contribute to that cause if they could just learn to use them.

FYI. The international seal hunt this year should bring in between 270-350 thousand pelts, the final count isn't in yet, the seal hurd itself is a little over 6 million.

Canada's sealing vessels finaly break free from ice:
The last of the sealing vessels trapped in ice off northeastern Newfoundland has been freed, three weeks after the ordeal began. The remaining three longliners, which were under the escort of two icebreakers on Thursday, are free of heavy pack ice. About 100 longliners participating in the East Coast seal hunt became stuck last month when strong winds pushed heavy ice toward shore. Only one ship, considered a total loss, was abandoned.
