The usual Lavazza was spooned into our Italian espresso pot this morning.

13 degrees C = 55 degrees F at dawn.

Sunrise from the cockpit in Crete. A promise of a beautiful day to come.
Dived back under a goosedown duvet to finish the coffee.
Life doesn't get much better

Beaufort, NC

Current: Clear
Wind: NW at 18 mph

Cold but sunny here south of the huge storm in the Northeast. A nice day for a serious walk on Front St. Coffee. Life is good.

Re: Saturday Morning Coffee & Weather

2045 here on Saturday night at FOB Orgun-E in Afghanistan. I just had a couple of near beers (no alcohol allowed) while watching plywood burn in a trash barrel for excitement. It's clear and cool here at around 7500 ft in elevation. We had snow a few days ago but it's now mud. My exercise today was walking around the muddy FOB perimeter (on the INSIDE) looking at the snow covered mountains on the other side of the Hesco barriers and barbed wire. I've got about 11 weeks to go before my next R&R, a trip to Costa Rica and to Florida to see my boat for the first time...

Re: Saturday Morning Coffee & Weather

I am 2 days drive away from my boat. Had to come out of retirement to build up the boat kitty. Cold up here in North east BC. Coffee is still good though. Waiting for the end of June. Have a few boat projects brought up with me so I will be ready to go when I get back to the boat.

11:40 edt -15C and just finished blowing out the end of the driveway for the second time ( the plow drivers don't care) and planning to go to the boat to shake the snow off the tarp but need more coffee first.

Drinking some Costa Rican fair trade after two hours of shoveling snow here in upstate New York, and wondering how my boat did (up on the hard) in the hurricane-force gusts in Massachusetts.

Damn, you backpacking travelers have all the fun. Drinking, burning stuff! Play in the snow! Then head out on the trail for a brisk trek. Next stop: Costa Rica! That's what I'm talking about!

Somehow you're walking around Forward Operating Base Orgun-E's perimeter and me walking around my snow covered block in Minneapolis don't seem quite the same. My R&R's coming up in FL and Savannah next week. Hope you enjoy yours in Costa Rica and FL. And oh, BTW, thank you very much for your service...it is valued and appreciated. Stay safe fellow veteran.

Re: Saturday Morning Coffee & Weather

Morning All!

Had a nice cup of Tim Horton's with a couple slices of banana bread my Mrs just baked. Help yourself to a cup of my Tim's if you'd like.

Sitting around thinking of some of those palm lined beaches we've enjoyed in our travels earlier this winter.

It's -20C (-4F) here today and there's some snow on the sidewalk that needs shoveling today. That will be my exercise!

Have a great day everyone!
