pirate Sailing Mexican waters

Re: the loom of light on the horizon. Been there. I saw the same thing nearing Cabo San Lucas before sunrise in '93.

Night lights

Yes, it's wonderful what can happen at night while sailing, he? One time I had a big scare when I thought I was going to crash into some vessel I'd not seen before, right in front of me.
Turned out to be the top of a crescent moon raising.
