Sailing Georgian Bay

I am wondering what the sailing season is in Owen Sound/ Parry Sound area is. I am not looking for the extreme ends of the season, but when most people launch and haul out.
Up in Thunder Bay it is from mid-May to mid-October.
I am curious how much longer you get per year.

It's about the same anywhere in Southern Ontario except maybe down Windsor way. There are some diehards still out there now, but they started pulling boats in earnest right after Thanksgiving. The weather this fall has been unusually crappy, lots of rain and way below normal temps.

They usually go in first week in May, but most don't go anywhere until Victoria Day. We used to be in G. Bay now are on eastern Lake Ontario and it's about the same either place.

Hope to get up your way in the next few years I hear there is solitude to be found up that way? Here's hoping.

Jdoe is right.

In Toronto, most of us launch in early May and haul out the weekend after Thanksgiving.

So you folks in the Lakehead are getting pretty much the same mileage (monthage?) as the rest of us.

The season's about the same. Splash in early-mid May and hope for good weather for the Victoria Day weekend (that's not happened for a few years). Haul-out in mid Oct. Interestingly, the best long weekend each of the last two years has been labour day.

Like jdoe says, this fall has been crappy but then, the same could be said for most of this summer. I left her in late hoping for a break in the weather but no go. I'll be up this weekend to winterize her and then that's it.

Hope to see you both on the Bay. There is solitude to be found if you get off of the beaten track.
