I'm not surprised it never made the news.
Is a whaler the equivalent of a ship's tender?
If so, it's a pretty pathetic token gesture.
It was empty, at anchor.
Now if they sank 'mother ship' ... maybe..

This gesture would be about as effective as snapping a grafitti vandal's pencil to send him a message, while he's busy spraying with a can in each hand...

If, as the capt. of the British ship stated, this is a signal to the piratas that we are changing tactics and will bring the fight to them if they go into action, it will become apparent in the near future. It is a rather old fashioned grand gesture from the glory days of the Royal Navy sail. Throwing down the gauntlet, giving fair warning, and all that. It IS about time for such direct action after all.

It's ok, don't worry those poor fishermen will surely claim the loss of their fishing boat, and be compensated by NATO for their trouble.

I, being an American (and probably also being somewhat dense) assumed the title of the post would lead to an unlikely story of a nurse sinking some pirates. Alas, you can imagine my disappointment when it turned out to be British Royal Navy vs. Unmanned Skiff.

Call it "artificial reef creation to foster fisheries population increase" and sink the whole lot of them, says I.

You can even buy the ships off the pirates before deep-sixing them. It'd be easier and more effective than hunting then down. Probably cheaper, too.
