Ridicule this boat

http://pages.ebay.com/motors/link/?n...d=151235010994

This is a custom boat for sale on ebay. I've said it before, custom boats scare me. This one in particular has some glaring faults. How do you steer it when the pusher fan has no rudders? That is just one of my questions.

The ad runs for roughly 19 days 10 hours more. We have till then to either figure out how to steer it or just make fun of it.

The owner has to be an engineer. I ran into a lot of them working in the oilfield. They had a lot of theory, but no on hands experience.

It looks like a hybrid scoot.

Lol. I studied civil engineering. It seems well built enough. I would even call it robust. I will say it is most likely not engineered. I've seen some engineers do some dumb things, I just can't see one designing something meant to move under its own power and forget the means steering. Perhaps I'm wrong though.

Re: Ridicule this boat

Looks to me like the entire fan rotates, which would, of course, allow for steering. Making the entire fan rotate, though, seems like a pointlessly complicated way to steer an airboat, though I suppose it would allow for much tighter turns.

Ah, now I see the cables. In my defense I'm looking at it on my phone... and it is still a 16 foot jon boat with 3 engines.

Re: Ridicule this boat

It's a purpose built specialty boat (ie: bow fishing at night).

Lots of boats seem silly if you ignore thier purpose.
- Air boats are exceedingly noisy. If you are in deep water drop the outboard for a quieter ride.
- Raise the outboard if you need to sneak into really shallow water.
- If you want to night hunt, you need bright lights that an outboard 12v supply won't handle.

It's not the cheapest way to do it but nothing intrinsically wrong with it. If you want to ridicule someone for cost look at the 34' picnick boats than run 3/4 of a million.

Re: Ridicule this boat

I'd be afraid to make a quick turn with it.
The center of thrust looks to be high enough to cause the boat to roll over.

Come to think of it, that, it's probably why it's for sale.
