Re: Quadcopters - Video shooting

You might want to consider a counter rotor UAS, Infotron : UNE VISION D'AVANCE they can be launched and landed in 35kts of wind, no problem.

Changing all the time. We have the USD $1,300.00 quadcopter and here in Louisiana, the house recently passed a bill saying you cannot film anyone's private property. I'm sure there will be tightening and tightening of the rules as time passes....

Right now, here, there is a question of jurisdiction for any drone complaints. It's not for the police and the FAA doesn't want to touch it, so it exists in a gray area.

Obviously I'm not commenting on offshore/international waters...

Hoppy, have you ever flown one of these before?

This could be a cool gadget for checking out reefs as you approach.

Very neat though!
We have thought about using ours for fishing in the waterways of South East Louisiana to get a current grasp of the routes, etc. It gets confusing out there!

Re: Quadcopters - Video shooting

We have the DJI Phantom 2 vision and in checking amazon, it has already gone down 300.00 in price. (But we did get an extra battery)

Amazon.com : DJI Phantom 2 Vision Quadcopter with Integrated FPV Camcorder (White) : Professional Video Accessories : Electronics

Apparently people are putting pool noodles on theirs for water landings, but that is a DIY/ take a risk option...

Nice! I want one! Don't need one but, want one still the same. Though I could see it might come in useful to inspect the rigging while still on the deck. He said trying to justify it's purchase.

Mine has 2 cameras, one pointed down, the other ahead, fly it with my ipad. But Mike you'll have to give up your love of lead, without the high energy density of modern LiPO bateries, it wouldn't get off the ground. lol

Yep, your getting there. NiMH is the chemistry the GM EV-1 switched to for more range before lithium was available. Too bad that due to Chevron Oil you can't get any NiMH cell larger than 10 ahr.
