Photo of the US Navy's brand new stealth Destroyer, USS Zumwalt as it steamed in Portland Harbor this afternoon. This thing is massive! What a sight to behold. God Bless the US Navy and all her sons and daughters. Semper Fi.

You should said something before said it!I wish you could have said something yesterday, so I could have ridden up to see it!!!? What! Was She built up at Bath?

Unfortunately her itinerary is a closely guarded secret.
Yes she set sail from Bath yesterday. Google "Portland Press Herald" and you'll see some photos of her coming down the Kennebec River.
The photos do not prepare you for the massive size in person.
She's in the harbor as I write this. Drove over to see her after work. Too dark for photos though.

We sailed up the Kennebec back in August, right past her and some of her siblings, on our way through the Hell Gates and on to Boothbay. I would love to see one of these monsters going down the Kennebec -- it's very narrow in spots, and bendy, but quite deep. Still, I have a lot of trouble imagining a 600-foot destroyer coming through those tight bends.
