Ozzies, Did Anyone Notice this Hurricane F*** Up?

Queensland AU,
Hurricane Hamish.

Scroll down to the text and pics of your pristine beaches covered with shipping disaster leakage. 2009 Nightmare- MV Pacific Advenurer

This may not top the dumping of nuclear waste at the Farellon Islands off of San Francisco 40 or so years ago (on purpose) but it is still a recent contender for "Man's inhumanity to nature" awards from last year.

Was this in the press in OZ? I think I remember the 'hurricane' (why wouldn't you call it a 'cyclone'?) but I don't recall much coverage of the chemical and fuel spill. Then again I am in the US of A where this is considered the cost of doing business and the insurers could breath a sigh of relief that it was a 'named' storm (therefore limited or no payout of liability).

Yours to consider or discard.
Enjoy, or not.

Hep, it was pretty big news here last year when it happened. Those containers are still sitting on the ocean floor, not far from where I live. I thought most people involved did a pretty good clean up job. I think the government is still trying to get money off the shipping company to pay for it though.
