October N. Pacific crossing

We're getting ready to transit between Dutch Harbor and Seattle.

I was recently recalling a fellow who was wanting to sail from the W. coast USA to Asia in the fall. He had a number of folks who discouraged him, of course, but I figure a picture is worth a thousand words. THIS is why you don't sail in the high latitudes out of season!

I'm not looking forward to the crossing, but we should be ahead of the worst of it (The chart is for Tuesday). It's safe to say that we're not dallying- I'd like to be at least E. of Kodiak before this monster swallows up several million square miles!
