It seems that the jet streams in the NE Pacific (that would also be the Pacific Northwest) are further south that normal. Normally in the summer low pressure systems track through the Gulf of Alaska, but more seem to be tracking further south.

The jet stream has been behaving oddly. Some of you are aware of the floods that hit Calgary. One portion of the jet stream "broke away" and created a counter-clockwise circular pattern that stalled over our area. That resulted in the huge downpours we had. We have also had a some omega blocks this summer.

That's been my experience, too. I noticed last year that our weather patterns here in The Bay Area have been anywhere from two weeks to four weeks later than experiences going back to 1978. We just had two nights of heat lightning (no e in lightning!), a rare occurrence for us here. The normal location of the Pacific high is generally off the California coast for almost all of the summer. This year there have been a series of low pressure cells that have moved very far south. This has created sustained and long term high coastal water winds and swells beyond the normal three day to a week cycles. Only one little patch of ocean, but that's been our experience.

the weather is all ways fairly pleasant in cornwall......and the girls get better looking every year!

living and working on the north atlantic's windward side i can't see much has changed over the last 6 years i,ve been here,apart from some winters are colder with less rain,and others warmer with more rain.

we also get strange fish washing up,and getting caught,but this is probably more to do with depleted pelegic fish stocks and where the planton is than any thing else.

currently nearly finished the third circumnavigation,just need an indian ocean delivery from aus to the carib.........havent noticed much change out there either

There are Pelicans in Victoria BC.....that ain't normal. Half Moon bay? Sure, but not in BC.

First time I saw pelicans in Northern Alberta I was amazed. Then I saw them land on Pelican Lake and thought, maybe not so amazing.

This year the average surface temperature of Lake Superior between the Keweenaw and Isle Royale is about 53 deg F the first week of August. Last couple years it was in the upper 60's so it is about 15 degrees F colder this year.l
