Be aware that the internals of that gun are not all stainless. If you keep it in a marine environment, It's a good idea to have a gunsmith pull the side plate to clean & lube it every so often.

Pulling the sideplate is not something that you want to try yourself. There's a trick to it. Do not try to pry it off.

Had a SS .410 short barrel for dispatching uncooperative decked sharks, but lost it to the Mexican Federales... But that's a whole new thread topic!!!

The 6" .357 has really low recoil. It's only the short barrels that are super loud and kick like a mule. You can also load the whole family of .38 into a .357, making for great training or even use for anything smaller than a bear, if you go with +P. Not that .357 is a great bear round, just the biggest one she's comfortable with.



Wouldn't it be smarter to shoot the shark while it's in the water alongside, instead of blasting things on deck with a sawed off? I guess it does get style points...

There are a bunch of stories in Alaska about some people who shot fish after putting them in the boat. Not one had a good outcome and at least one ended in a fatality.

Owner or some AH comes to get a boat out of the yard (probably because he hasn't paid his bill or has an issue with the YY owner).
Gets shoo'd away.
Comes back, takes out a revolver out and shoots the boat or something.
You witness a crime.
You all laugh and joke about it.

Don't think I'd shoot a shark nowadays, and by the time you wrestle it aboard, the meat would be soured by uric acid or whatever they secrete. Bad juju all around. Way safer to cut them free anyway. If they love you, they'll return per Rod Stewart. Maybe it was Rod Serling... Possibly A Rod... Somebody like that.

Cant fix dumb. Don't get me wrong, I understand the need, just not the technique. Why not one of those giant squirt guns with cheap vodka

My Kimber 1911 is made from 416 stainless, but just as one of the other posters said, barrel and internals, no. The slide has some rust from being on the boat.
