Not your average gun thread...

I think I was witness to a boaticide...

At the yard yesterday there was a gentleman that drove up and was wandering about the entrance to the yard... What got my attention was the "non-yard" attire... Slacks and a sportcoat...
Hmm... says Happy...

It was late in the afternoon around closing time, and a big rig and empty lowboy hauler showed up a bit later... Ah Ha... He must be hauling his boat out of the yard...

An hour or so passes, and I see him talk with the yard owner a few times... A bit later I notice the hauling truck was gone... By this time, it's getting after hours, and all the workers and owner are gone... I'm the only one in the yard... Hull grinding away and covered with gear and paint dust...

About 30 minutes later, I catch Mr. Sportcoat out of the corner of my eye wandering through the yard towards the waterfront... About a minute later, I hear a rather loud BANG!...

As I'm rushing out from under the boat to help, I'm thinking that this guy has knocked over a ladder, or worse... Just as I'm rounding the front of my boat into the open... I hear.... BANG!... BANG-BANG-BANG-BANG!!!

AS I HASTILY RETREAT back behind my boat...

I see Mr. Sportcoat casually walking back through the yard toward the gate... with... a chrome snubnose in his hand.... get in his car... and drive off...

The worst part of this story is an hour after the fact... When I thought...

"Gee... If I hadn't been hiding behind my boat like a nancy... Maybe I could have talked him into shooting my boat too..."

Wow! So did you go see the boat he shot? Or maybe he shot the yard manager?

Well, ya know those boats will sneak up on you and take your money...clearly this citizen was prepared. That boat had snuck up in the yard and was after his wallet. Don't blame him a bit. On the other hand... He could have been a hit man hired by someone's wife.

Am glad your not talking of double homicide on boat which happened recently in Florida. Very sad.

I pack a .357 SW in stainless for the lesser corrosion aspect. Your man is an obvious noob with a chromed short barrel. Sometimes ya wanta reach out a bit and touch something, Nancy. ()

Also gave my blue blazer to an upscale thrift shoppe, replaced by a light pin-striped seersucker job here in the humid SE, after an article in Modern Metro Sexual Magazine.

Clearly a case of "self defense"!!!
But I do like the hitman angle too....

I'm sayin!
Very relaxed boatyard... No posted rules or contracts...
And I thought I was pushing the limits with lackluster dust containment!

Re: Not your average gun thread...

Somebody once brought me a boat that was sunk by gunfire. Idiot teenagers stole it for a joyride and thought they would get rid of the evidence by putting a few rounds through the bottom. Bullet holes in fiberglass are a real PITA to repair! So let's hope it was the yard manager, and not a boat.

HA HAAA!!!!!!

So very true on the SS.... This piece was DEFINITELY chrome...
Maybe it was a "throwaway gun" ?

Your seersucker sounds quite nice... You could tell there was something off about this feller though... While quite nicely dressed... The coat was camel with black slacks... CLEARLY not from the South... I think we need to revisit Idora's hitman theory...

Watch that hitman angle, tho. I rolled that out at the airport yesterday and got my hands swabbed for the effort. I had just noshed so there was an upside.

That's funny...

I can imagine what a PITA it is... Gotta be a pretty large circle of delam huh???

Thank goodness not the manager/owner... Everybody was gone by an hour or so...

Re: Not your average gun thread...

Just got a SS revolver for the wife, since were headed for bear country this summer. Ruger GP100 full lug in 6" .357 mag. My SS Ruger Alaskan in .454 Casul is way too hot for her, had to get her a girly round! But anyway, it was funny. I answered a listing in a local rag with a fair price for the GP. The guy I bought it from was a very old Swiss fella named Pete. He bought the thing for a sailing trip to Alaska himself! Just refit a Swan and is headed up this summer too. Super nice guy, pro skipper. He came down and visited my refit; now we are pals. So apparently, around here at least, sailors carry SS revolvers! Small world, eh?

Precisely. Pretty small hole, loads of delam. You may be happy he didn't get the manager now, but wait till after you get the bill...
