seems a bit of over engineering to me. Lighters work also any hard edged surface also. we used car bumpers all the time as kids.

Shoot, we just used to take a second bottle, hook the cap under the first one, and pop it off. Worked everytime, except of course what do you do with the last one

The companion way steps are removable and hook into a couple of socket plates. Remove the steps, open beer, replace steps.

Problem solved.
