Great job! When I was living in Grenada I learned how to open a bottle using the cap from another bottle. It works, but there is a learning curve. Now I just use my wedding band. The advantages of a titanium ring are lightweight, cheap ($34 online), and they don't scratch or dent when you use them to open your beer. First time I did it in front of the wife, I thought she was going to be angry... instead she laughed and asked me to open her beer too.

How to Open a Beer Bottle With a Carabiner - CHOW Tip - Top Stories - CHOW

Just one more reason to keep some rock climbing carabiners on-board. No, the new wire gate version won't work.

Not Married...but I know fellow that does it with his. Decided that it is a requirement for when ring shopping if I ever take that leap.

If you can't open a bottle of beer, you're not thirsty.

We have a wall-mount bottle opener on a bulkhead near the companionway. Now, if we were really problem drinkers, we'd have one in the cockpit, and maybe one at the mast, too.

So True. And, I been so thirsty so many times in the past I can open a bottle on pretty much anything. The peice of wood in the picture with out the bolt would have opend at least a case before the edges started to round out. Then you could use the four ends to get another 8 bottles open. When that's done, break the stick in half and start using the pieces.

My personal favorites: a can, lighter, screwdriver, seat belt, belt buckle, lawn furniture. I don't use anything made with glass or my teeth - there's never been the need.

who the hell buys wine with corks? if it doesn't come in a box or with a crew top, it is too highbrow for our boat.

Push the cork down into the wine bottle...you're gonna drink it all anyway, right??
