Re: Newtown shooting

I try to tell people that the guy did it so that people would talk about it. The quicker it dies in the media (including social), the less fantastic acts like this are, and hopefully the less appealing they are to any other whackjobs.

I think it's a little late for that, it's all the news in Canada is reporting!

Re: Newtown shooting

It makes no sense how someone could do this to children.

possibly the portrayal of a broken society on tv in the average persons living room on a daily basis, coupled with easy access to firearms and video games, create the perfect bridge for your adolescent lunatic with a percieved grudge

Re: Newtown shooting

Unfortunately this type of event is likely to become more common for the reasons as defined by atoll.

God, bless the soles lost.

Re: Newtown shooting

Very sad. Mental disease is incideous and not rarely visible. I agree with Rebel heart on this one. Sadly, the sooner it leaves the media the less chance of yet another copy cat.

Time is ticking on this thread closure.

Sorry for the shootings and stabbings.

In WWI and the rerelease of WWII and the wars that followed them, the general's managed to kill, somewhere over 200 million people. Not very efficient use of resources, for as hard and long as they have tried to reduce the population.

What if the next war, all the generals and the people who run them, just hid deep inside mountains, as they turned off the lights. No gasoline, no heating oil, no food, no medicines. No nothing, but they did leave us with 300 million guns, in one country alone. Imagine the depopulation that would occur if they furnished the tools of our own destruction, and then just left us to do the job, they have been trying to do for the past 100 years.

Re: Newtown shooting

The problem here was that the mother failed to secure her firearms to prevent access by an emotionally unstable adult child. First she, and over two dozen others, paid the price for that dereliction.

Jesus h Christ people kids were killed today by a mad man not by the weapon, I didn't start this thread to debate guns, I just wanted to express my sorrow for them.

Re: Newtown shooting

I do have ICBMS in my backyard, I grew up with them right around the corner. It tends to give one a fatalistic view on life. I grieve for the families of the murdered and pray for some solace somewhere.

Re: Newtown shooting

My kids were at their elementary school today, about 12 miles from Newtown. The gun debate may happen tomorrow - and I honestly believe there are reasonable people with reasonable differences in that debate, not just the archetypes portrayed in the media - but tonight I am thinking of the grieving families just down the road.
