That is a spooky figurehead. Just a thought here but if modern sailors put figureheads on the bows of their boats now what would they put on the stern? I've got some funny mental pictures!

So it is true if one wastes taxpayer dollars and risk lives of Coast Guard personnel one can be prosecuted for it.

Have you ever heard of a Scheel keel? It might be one of those, although I can't tell from those photos you posted.

Here are a couple of references:

Gadzooks! Now THIS beauty is the ultimate dinghy!

No dinghy dock = no problem.
High surf / contrary tides / gale force winds in harbour = no problem.
Get ashore for that cold six pack whenever you like.

Re: Nautical Oddities

Came across today. I'm not poking fun but it is odd. It appears the almas fold in and the mast turns. Outboard on back.

Outer hulls fold alongside the main hull so it can be hauled around via trailer?? Once saw a tri like that near Seattle, Wash.

Re: Nautical Oddities

Perhaps for a trailer, or maybe so it can be picked by a smaller crane? Don't know.

It's pretty big, I'd guess at close to 38'. Bigger than it looks here.
