Yep, can't say I've ever seen anything like that on a sailboat b4. I'll bet his TV reception is just peachy

Re: Nautical Oddities

There was a photo posted before with something similiar. It maybe that they're seen around Australia a bit. I have to say I find the marina a little amusing too. Not sure I'd call that a navigation channel!

I'm a bit confused. The first two pictures shows double wooden spars and the third just a steading rig.
The third boat is just a pretty little thing. A motor sailor built on a sailboat hull. Kinda looks like a Fisher.

I just though it was pretty.

Re: Nautical Oddities

As to the ketch with the latice masts, I wouldn't want to expose it to icing conditions. Could get top heavy real easy.

When looking at boast a couple of years ago I saw one with some kind of composite mast structure. IIRC it was two poles side by side to make the mast.

Canadian I think.

Looks like an irrigation ditch and someone shut the gate.

The channel is a lot wider than it appears in the picture.
It's a small river off the Bristol channel, the river Axe, hence the mud.

Sabre

Those aren't masts.
They are a long range wi-fi antenna and backup.

I'll bet the windage on those masts is crazy! Who needs sails? 7kts on bare "poles"
