On October 3, 2003, during a show at The Mirage in Las Vegas, Roy Horn (of Siegfried & Roy) was bitten on the neck by his 350 pound male tiger, Montecore. The mauling had left Horn partially paralyzed after he suffered significant blood loss and a stroke.

Montecore had been trained by Horn since he was a cub; and had performed with the act for six years.

Siegfried Fischbacher said Roy Horn fell during the act, and Montecore was attempting to drag him to safety, as a mother tigress would pull one of her cubs by the neck. Fischbacher said Montecore had no way of knowing that Horn, unlike a tiger cub, did not have fur and thick skin covering his neck, and that his neck was vulnerable to injury. Fischbacher said if Montecore had wanted to injure Horn, the tiger would have snapped his neck and shaken him back and forth.

Mistake, or not, Roy nearly died.

But don't you hate it when cats bring the mice INTO the house/boat?

Like mine did 3 days ago, and then played catch and release for 2 more days till I finally caught the damn thing.

Thrrrrpppp, my dog does a better job

Re: Maybe We Should Not Be that Afraid of Sharks

bubby doesnt bring rats or mice into boat--he prefers birdeez.... once dead, he sticks em into my clothing i just washed....is tolerable, as he has only done that 2 times in 5 yrs..he doesnt get to shore--doesnt like land.is a boatykat...gifts are good--cant punish him for cat like behaviors, as he loves his momms and protects me.

he likes mako also....but he hasnt brought one aboard yet......

No we should'nt fear them, but you should have a healthy respect for them. just read this today. It is very sad

British honeymooner Ian Redmond died Tuesday as he swam off Anse Lazio beach, on the island of Paslin, in the Seychelles. His wife, Gemma, said they were "having so much fun" on their dream honeymoon in the Indian Ocean archipelago before the tragedy occurred.

I wonder how old and or rich the guy was ? I also wonder if the new wife was putting chum in the water to attract sharks.
