Long weekend dilema

Ok, it's the Easter long weekend. For us "simple" servants that's 4 days off. The dilema is:
  1. It's too freakin' cold to work on the boat;
  2. The Admiral is working today;
  3. It's too freakin' cold to work on the boat;
  4. I spent all my mad money on e-Bay;
  5. It's too freakin' cold to work on the boat;
  6. All the hardware stores are closed;
  7. It's too freakin' cold to work on the boat; and
  8. There's nothing boating related on TV!
Did I mention it's too freakin' cold to work on the boat?

Pop quiz, hotshot. It's too freakin' cold to work on the boat. What do you do? What do you do?

It just amazes me how stupid some people can be when it comes to boats and what not to do.

I saw a guy working at a marina do video #1 about this time of year a few years back.

We were just launched and they were hauling the next boat, when SPLASH! He fell from the travelift area all the way down into water that was almost still frozen. I won't name marinas, but I know Island Mike knows the place.

I did just that today! It was only -2 C so I unzipped the boat and got to work. A 20 minute job to install a new battery charger ended up being 2 hours with a run to the hardware store for a GFCI. The other item that went in was the new fridge. This leaves the following jobs to be done:
  1. Install rotary AC/AC selector switch
  2. R&R battery isolator with new battery combiner
  3. R&R stereo and install new AM/FM/WX/CD player with 4 new speakers and remote control
  4. Run new DC circuit to the fridge
  5. Install Water Witch in bilge pump circuit
  6. R&R old trim planes with new (larger) trim planes
  7. R&R trim tab switch (new one with indicators)
  8. Glass bead outdrive and repaint then reinstall outdrive
  9. Install Garmin GPS/chartplotter w/antenna & fuel sensor
  10. Make up new trim to finish off refer opening
Put the plug in, fuel it up and away we go! Now if the ice and snow will just kindly melt!

Send me a couple of plane tickets Kai we'll be right down to help!

We have extended our long weekend out till the next weekend. It is stunning out here today. If it wasn't for the fact it is dark out. I'd place a photo of the ancorage. So just let your mind dream of a stunning day and fantastic sunset and a stunning evening.
