Last day at work today!

I've been planning this day for about 6 years. We put a 25 year old accountant on to manage our family business about 18 months ago and the plan was to leave it to him when we felt he knew the business well enough. Two weeks ago I just realised it was time. He's actually doing most things better than me. You just know when it's time. If I hung in there now I'd be like the sportsman who stays for one season too long.

My new semi-custom boat is close to being finished. It has taken more than a year longer to get a new boat built than I thought it would. If there is ever another boat it will be a production boat that I can just take home when I've made my choice. Now it's getting close I can't concentrate on work. I can only think of sailing away. My work performance has undoubtedly dropped off while I daydream about all the boat things to do.

So my task today after 37 years in the workforce is to clean out my desk and on Monday a cute young girl will take my place.

Do I think anyone will miss me? Nah
Will I miss it? Nah
OK, it must be time!

WOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!! !!!!

Re: Last day at work today!

Way to go, Greg!!!!!

We'll be thinking of you as we surge around our anchor here in Twofold Bay, rain pelting down, big seas crashing on shore, gusty winds driving the windgen into useful life.
(Ho, ho)

Enjoy your new life and your new boat, and hope that Heidi can stand having you around 24/7.

We look forward to catching up soon.

Cheers from Jim and Ann, who are in awe of your patience with the builder.

Re: Last day at work today!

Doesn't sound like your some poor soul who is defined by his work and will miss it. I have met a few that pulled the plug only to realize their work defined them and went back.
