Irene Causes Large Boat to Rest Perfectly On Top of Dock

This falls under the category, "How the heck did THIS happen?"

Some interesting photo's and video of the large houseboat resting perfectly on top of a dock with no damage.

It took me forever to get that boat to rest balanced on that dock. Next time maybe Speedracer won't come past me so fast when I'm sleeping on board.

But, I gotta say, if I needed a dock built, I think I'd look up the guy that did that one. Hand rails supporting that houseboat? Not bad...

Re: Irene Causes Large Boat to Rest Perfectly On Top of Dock

Actually, it's the Belle, a riverboat that takes folks on cruises up and down the Pamlico River out of Washington, NC. It usually is docked near the Estuarium on the Washington Downtown waterfront, but for safekeeping, the owners took her to Broad creek and tied her to a dock.(not the one she ended up on) You can see what happened when the waters rose and fell, what hasn't been figured out is how they will float her again. The owners say they plan to resume the cruises next week. The two marinas and one of the boatyards on Broad creek were devastated by the storm. Covered docks fell and crushed boats, broke up, and boats in that yard fell over and floated off stands and into other boats, a real mess.

Maybe they should start plotting Katia path and work on getting a new storm surge to place her on the other side of the dock.

I think a nice patio and a staircase should just about do it for your areas newest listing for waterfront property done exclusively in nautical motif.
