Don't go for the young ones they are more trouble, or ones with kids at home.
Some of them will even buy you a boat?
..."heaps of lonely women" is right. I tried it but told the truth. All of the many "50 something" gals I met lied about their weight, and none knew whether they loved sailing. And most don't love it beyond the concept stage, and fewer still in this age bracket. Nah, what I found was desperate women. "Dates" always ended with these haunting lyrics in my head:
... No one hurries home to lonely women
... No one knows the blues like lonely women do
L Nyro (1947-1997)

Sorry for the buzzkill but I just can't do it anymore. I like women too much. I just meet the ones I meet in the usual dumb ways.

The joke around this sailing town is the new arrival starts telling all the local gals that he just got here on a boat. Finally, the bartender clues him in: To impress a woman around here, tell her you have a car.

Plenty of very lucky, hefty older guys in Thailand and Philippines with young, beautiful local girls.
Caribbean has plenty of hefty older ladies visiting with the local young, fit blokes.
Plenty of boats for sail in Asia mate...
Every other old western bloke has a boat in the Caribbean-nothing special.
However, Luperon ain't bad for a short time with a short anchor-rode...

Here's one of the bar-tenders from Luperon serving up a perfectly chilled beer, after a tedious passage.
And you can take that "to-go".

Luperon huh? Can my pickup get me there from Michigan? I've got a 10' rubber raft and two oars.

How often do you get 'lucky' NOW??

Probably about the same or less!

If I were in the Caribbean on a sailboat and looking to score with women, I would park my boat somewhere very near where the cruise ships disembarked their passengers. Those people are in town for a short time, and are looking to party and have as much fun as possible in a short amount of time. I would frequent nearby beaches and bars, and I would let it be known that I was a cruising sailor looking for company to share a good time with.
I can't speak to women sailors yet but can definately speak to the Harley riding women as I have ridden for years. There is no discerable difference in their looks as to the general population as a whole, but very many of them are smokin hot and are no more interested in being tied to you than you are to them. They are confident, wise, know what they want and and in most cases don't need you to get it. Having said this most are a lot of fun to play with but don't start following them around, as you will most likely get your feelings hurt.

Ahhhh how i love the Dominican Republic. Allot of great sailors went there and stayed, including Christopher Columbus...Now we know why...

Of course, luck is a fickle mistress and you might win the lottery and find a woman, but I wouldn't hold my breathe waiting. Oh! that "respectful sailing partner" - I think translates to "keep your hands off me."
- - The "new" culture in the USA is rapidly becoming instant social non-contact gratification mixed with non-interruptable texting/talking/tweeting on their "ipads"/etc. Wandering off to the corners of the world were communications is done face to face with verbal language or one on one is not in their reality sphere. Getting out of sight of shopping malls, hair/nail saloons, etc. is also anathema to their lifestyle. Walking around the V.I.'s you will see most all the women with 2 cellphones, one in each hand and talking on at least one constantly. What hope have you of getting one of these lovelies on a cruising boat out of range of a cell system?
- - So specifically as to meeting women on vacation or otherwise, in local bars/watering holes, etc. is really an extremely long shot. Possible but not a sure thing by a long shot. In Culebra I watched as 2 and 3 men would "work" each woman at the bar and these were women close to being classified as Coyotes. Getting drunk helps lower the inhibitions and improves your chances of getting lucky. But it also lowers the blood pressure which is not a good thing in an older male looking for some action.
- - As far as trying to hit on women tourists in hotels, security is rather tight and you will most probably be helped to the door. The old Jimmy Buffet days are gone.
Holy crap! I'm keeping the one I got of 40 years, even if she's not a screaming meemie sailor!

Go to Ft Myers beach in Florida. It's one big party town and the girls will approach you regularly down there. Especially when they find out that you live on a boat.

Boats are hardly babe magnets.
Take a look at places such as Miami Beach Marina. Wall to wall wealth/motor-yachts. But, no women.
the women are in the cities, clubs etc.
damn, its hard enough to catch a fish on the water these days...
(ok, there was one naked young stripper type on the boat next to me)

The bar-tender, the perfectly chilled beer, or both?

And my bet is that she would be a great resource to have onboard - if ever you encountered Somali Pirates...........a fair chance that their kidneys would be on E-Bay within a week or yours

Two would be better (for anti-Piracy reasons ).
