If You Were to Ever Take a 'Cruise'...Commercially

This wasn't my first trip on an Ocean going boat, but it's the one that got me thinking and my memories of it are some of the best I have.
Cruise Norway: Hurtigruten

They don't have the trip I was on anymore. But here is the synopsis.

It was 1978 (as I recall) it was 13 day's of splendid bliss.... well almost. Waves breaking over the bridge on the boat... just like this one.

between North Norway and Spitsbergen ... somewhere near Bear Island... Was cause to send me back to bed in the state room. Even though I had risen and went up to have breakfast... going up to the bridge to see the onslaught just didn't help...

We left Bergen, north to Nordkap then north to SpitsBergen and the Polar cap and return to Bergen.

Seeing the Polar cap. 84deg 15 min North was just one of the highlites. The Midnight sun, Nordkap, Spitsbergen, Lofoten Islands.... Too many to list.

So what Trip would you "Pay" to take Commercially if you wanted to be pampered?

I'd pay to go on a cruise ship to Alaska or Antartica , basically places where I wouldn't go sailing because I would love to see the icebergs but can't abide cold. Take a stroll on deck , watch around and then go back inside to a jacuzzi with a view of a glacier. I could do that....

The other thing is that I would wait till we had a new boat to do that sort of stuff. The Horn, Drakes Passage (except for the BVI's!) and anything Canada NW or NE is not for us.
I would do them in a Bene, but bigger and new.

We've only done 1 cruise. I said "I'll only go somewhere I wouldn't go in a boat". Alaska, it was. Pretty cool - everything BUT the ship. Heck, 2400 passengers and 1000 crew. And massive quantities of mediocre food (the one item that NEVER changed on the dinner menu? Get this: ATLANTIC salmon).

South Pole? Too many people. Instead take a cruise to the North Pole on a Russian Ice Breaker. It has been doing this for a number of years now. See:

My wife and I would like to do a cruise ship one day...we just cant stand being around crowds. So that's probably never going to happen until we get old enough to just not care anymore.

Did a cruise 12 years ago or so. Interesting to have done it but I wish I had the money back.

Absolutely loved the 3 we went on.
First was in the Med 7days, then 5 days up the Nile...but the best was from England to St. Petersburg Russia 12 days. Stopped in Copenhagen, Stockholm, Tallinn, Helsinki, Oslo.
The food was top notch, the organization and service was exceptional. We went with the two kids and they also enjoyed them.
Its a good way to sample many places with out the hassles of in and out of air ports security...imigration....taxis...hotel check-ins....outs....blah blah blah.
Check in once...out once...in the middle you visit 6 or 7 different contries....a show of some sort every night....sleep like a baby....and as I said before...really good food.
