If I Won the Lottery - What Boat to Buy ?

If you were to win the lottery what boat would you get? I kind of like this Morris if someone were to twist my arm a little for a good couples cruiser.

Morris 48 | Morris Yachts - Boat Builder of Daysailers and Semi-Custom Yachts

What would you get?

Re: If I won the lottery, what boat to buy?

A fun question. My answer is a 65' Oyster, probably.

Or maybe just a carbon mast, new rigging, and a new suit of laminate sails for my own boat . . . plus new electronics suite . . . . and the rest of the winnings into the cruising kitty . . .

A 48' yacht with only one stateroom. Interesting.

Exactly, a good couples boat! For me going bigger after this is wasted space that risks collecting "baggage" that requires feeding etc..

Wow! I was going to say Catalina 445 but now I just don't know. That Morris is gorgeous!

Island Packet 485 for monohaul or Antares 44i for multi, and then take off and never come back to those cold winters!

The morris is nice but not practical.
Where are the quarters for the crew/mobile balast butler etc?

I like this one... love my aft cabin...
Semi-Custom sailboat and sailing yachts | Morris Yachts - Boat Builder of Daysailers and Semi-Custom Yachts
if I had to choose..
I'd get a classic built to order by a well known yard and to my spec...

My goal in life is always to have a bigger boat than Don, so I'll take this one: Blue water sailboat and sailing yachts | Morris Yachts - Boat Builder of Daysailers and Semi-Custom Yachts

Re: If I won the lottery, what boat to buy?

Hmm good question. My dream power boat would be a 75' Smedvik mek Verksted Expedition Yacht like the one here:1970 Smedvik mek Verksted Expedition Yacht Power Boat For Sale - www.yachtworld.com

and sail would be the John G. Alden designed schooner here:1999 JOHN G. ALDEN Schooner Sail Boat For Sale - www.yachtworld.com

Why limit yourself to just one? Buy a fleet made up of every boat you've ever lusted after. After all, you've just won the lottery, Dude!

What would you get?

I would commission Chuck Paine to design me a new boat and have Morris Yachts build it.... No question about it..... The only thing I might change would be a team effort between French & Webb & Morris on the interior. It would be under 50'..

I'd also have the Brooklin Boat Yard build me a Joel White wooden day sailor......
