Hurricane Fay

Well here we are sitting again in the cone of the hurricane. Had a frontal line just go through (Sunday 4:00pm)the Lower Florida Keys.

So what do you think:

Fay up the west coast of Florida.....

Fay up the center of Florida.....

Fay up the east coast of Florida....

Place your bets!

Headed for the West coast, but ain't no hurricane yet.

Looks like SE Florida is out of the cone as per 1700 local so I should escape unless the Gods get angry at me and change the course to NE..

Well if these projected tracts are correct, it looks like my area of Charlotte Harbor could escape a direct hit. It does look like a path of Charlie (CHAR) Charlotte county (LIE) Lee county, the two counties hit.
I went through Charlie, what a disaster that was, many sunk and hurricane damaged boats. My boat came through with no damage. I was lucky. It's too soon for another hurricane here and all I can do is hope that it doesn't happen again. Even if it misses us, we are still looking at very high sustained winds. Good Luck to those in it's path.

Good luck to you Inthewind (with a handle like that luck must be on your side). We'll be watching from over here in Hollywood. Keep us posted.

I sat at anchor in South Beach for Charlie, and then was lucky enough to experience Jean, and Francise at the dock in N.E. Florida. If Fay makes it N.E. Florida I am hoping being over central Florida for such a long time takes the punch out.

It is 11:30 am here in the Lower Keys and the wind is picking up a bit. It is the tide that has me concerned. high tide is 1.28 at 12:11 pm... still 1 hour away and the water is over the neighbors seawall already. It is always the water not the wind that has my attention.

A beautiful day here in Tampa Bay. Slight breeze. Starting to cloud over but nothing threatening. Sneaky devils aren't they?

We seem to be getting into some of the worst of it ( 1:45pm ). Wind gusting to 40 - 45 and raining to beat the band. Tide is up but not getting any higher. Good chance the tide will stay there until tonites high tide. And the boat... shes bobbing around in the canal happy, banging the halyards like a puppy dog waging it's tail.

Need to go bail the dingy out again.
