Question Here's a strange one for you Ole' Timers

Any idea what this tool might have been used for? My Dad picked it up at a yard sale with some other old woodworking tools.

It says 'The Gipe Patented' but no year.

The only thing I could think of was maybe a swaging tool or something to do with cabling and the like.

See here, a bit more complicated than that. I used to go into a shop in the UK that had them, they were fascinating to me as a little bugger.

Goes right along with the useless junk our parents pick up (spending our inheritance) that we'll someday inherit and have to get rid of!

Anyway to transport beer on that little tram? Maybe a wire from refrigerator to sofa in front of the TV?

Might be worth something nowadays though. Don't throw it away before you check.

Well, I thought of that too but it's not marine grade stainless or bronze and isn't listed in the West Marine catalog.

Ain't that the truth. Until looking at the picture captions I never knew there really was a place named Devizes. I read a book of limericks many years ago which included the following:

There once was a young man from Devizes,
whose ears were of two different sizes,
the one that was small was of no use at all,
but the other won numerous prizes.

My mind is a fountain of useless information.
