Oh what the hell... the Mujaheddin were Freedom Fighters against the Russians and came from all tribes....
Osama Bin Ladin was a Saudi mercenary who mainly commanded other mercenaries....
The Taliban (The Pushtu tribes of the south) who after a lot of civil war and the 'alleged' Western/Pakistani sponsored assassination of Ahmed Shah Massoud aka 'The Lion of Pansheer'... their main resistance, were the so called successors of the Mujaheddin...
Furthermore the Mujaheddin were non political... the splits and infighting began after the Russians admitted defeat and pulled out... like the 'Brits 100 years before...
Al Queda were always a fringe guerrilla group who were given hospitality and protection for their contribution to the resistance to the Russians...
To understand this you have to consider this old saying...
'If a Pashtun befriends you.. you have a friend for life... offend a Pashtun and you have an enemy for 1000yrs..'
These guys make the Mafia Vendetta seem like a garden party....

I can strongly recommend a book called 'The Kite Runner' for an insight into the Afghan 'history' psyche....
also the follow up whose name I cannot remember.... which is about Afghanistan from a woman's side... and the difficulties/hardships that the fair sex encounters..

'The Kite Runner' took me back to the '50's and my childhod when I used to participate in 'Kite Fighting....' great fun and very serious stuff....

Indeed they do, judging by the video's of EU and the US they know very well what to do and when to do. In clip it clearly shows how they dump teh evidence that can cause them problems, right into the drink!
