help me!

Hello sailing experts,

I need your help!
I'm looking for a great birthday present for a boyfriend crazy about sailing (boat owner), who recently got also into dinghy sailing.
Budget is between 200-400£. Is there anything on the market - electronic gadget perhaps? - that could appeal to a sailing nerd?

Many thanks for your help!

Marilu

Re: help me!

Might be slightly out of budget, but he'll love you for it

Marine Watch + GPS Navigator | Garmin quatix.

And if that's too expensive, get him this instead so he can track his speed because every sailor wants to go faster:

SpeedPuck - Velocitek

Then, simplest, if he races a Ronstan Clear Watch will give him count downs for the starting line:

CLEARSTART Sailing Watches and Race Timer | Ronstan Sailboat Hardware World

Standard Horizon HX870 Floating 6W Handheld VHF with Internal GPS,

So he can call for help AND know where he is! I have one, it has come in handy. Not that I need to call for help... very often....

Re: help me!

Perhaps try to gently probe what HE thinks he needs most. Nearly always a sailor will have that one more thing that would make them happy/-ier.

You can make up a date in the chandlery, then pretend you are a bit late to watch carefully which stand had him entertained while he was pondering if your being late implied he needed a new gf ...

My birthday is in December and I would love a pair of goretex overalls, warm sailing gloves (if I am in the UK), quality polarized shades (if I am in Florida) ... a ticket to a boat show perhaps, etc. Level: EASY.

Your bf is a lucky guy! I hope he knows it!

Have fun shopping and giving, and all the best to your bf on his birthday!

Cheers,
b.
