Help indentify this picture.

I'm looking for the origin of this picture. I want to know if this is a still from a movie, fampus painting etc.
I would also like to know why one of the sails has an X on it. Can anybody shed some light?

It's a photoshop. The background image is Montague Dawson's "Crest of a Wave"

You can buy high quality "giclee" prints on canvas for around $100+ at any number of reproduction houses. Here's one source, google will find lots of others incuding on Amazon and EBay:

(Paper prints are harder to find and they are not much cheaper )

If you want to get a good look at the detail of the painting, click on the Image Zoom at the Sotheby's auction listing:

Re: Help indentify this picture.

In future a great resource for hunting down image sources is Tineye.com. You input an image URL or upload the image and TinEye will show you all matches on the net, including those that only use part of the image. Can be extremely handy.
