Re: Has anyone seen unexplainable phenomena while at sea?

We were anchored at Culebrita, north of Culebra in the Spanish Virgin Islands, sitting in the cockpit looking north towards the Atlantic, when I said, "Oh, look, the moon is rising." Then I thought to myself, the moon has already risen and it's over there! Whatever it was looked like a giant glowing harvest moon, but rose rapidly up to the around aircraft height, and then went off fast at a right angle parallel to the horizon. Three of us saw it and have no explanation. My best guess is that it was some sort of military operation, as that area does have charted naval operation zones. Still, I have seen ordinary helicopters and such at night, and this certainly didn't look like that.

We've experienced some unusual phenomena out on the water. The most common one is the beer just somehow disappears. Come to think of it the rum does too.

As to those aliens younger than me, they aren't so bad. They do however think dad is a walking ATM.

Yes, Ive seen some odd things. Once in the Gulf of Mexico I saw very large glowing objects in the water. They were perfectly round, not man made light. It was at night. The first one I spotted we sailed within a few feet of it, it was very big, as big as the boat and stationary. I thought it was a sleeping whale with a phosphorescence glow, but the thing was too round. They next couple were further away, smaller and deeper.

If you call a mile off of Clearwater/St. Pete "offshore" then yes. At night.
It was glowing green. Like the green of those glow sticks but long before they were public knowledge. But it appeared to to be about 2ft in diameter and leading away towards shore and out into the gulf. E to W. Two on deck. I called to the other and all three of us watched as we sailed over it. I asked to go around to it so I could dive down to it for a "closer look". I was outvoted and we sailed away from it.

You just can't tell too many people about those kind of things though.

Maybe it was a current vortex or rip tide of some sort that had phosphorescent somethings in it.

strange you mention that we had a similar occurance where all our rum dissappeared
,i was zapped when they landed and woke up in the morning finding out that they had obviously tried to communicate using our signal flags............perhaps one of the ufologists could translate...........

Re: Has anyone seen unexplainable phenomena while at sea?

Late one evening years ago, I was at a marina on the Fraser River. I looked up, and was stunned to see a large reddish celestial body that I thought must be Mars, but apparently some freakish atmospheric phenomenon made it look huge in the night sky, along with a full moon. I marveled for several minutes before I realized it was a large plastic pylon suspended from a set of powerlines strung over the river to warn low flying aircraft of their presence.

You can put me in the category who have tacked to avoid hitting the moon while it was rising from the sea

A few years back I saw a circle around the moon and it was very obvious,so much so that I called the local meteoroligist and he said it was a moisture ring or something like that ,it was strange and I had not seen it before or sense !?

I've seen that ring or halo around the moon a number of times. It's formed by light reflected off of ice crystals high in the atmosphere. In times past it was often thought to mean a storm was approaching.

Ahh, the Maunsell forts. I have seen them. Supposedly developed to protect the Thames estuary from the Germans; my belief is they are actually disguised, abandoned Martian fighting machines chronicled by HG Wells
