Guess the Location
I thought I would start a game. Its really simple and there is only one rule. Guess the location of a picture. The rule is that it must be sailing related, meaning that if you cannot get a sailboat there then it does not count. The winner picks the next picture and so on.
So here is the first place. Do you know where it is? No cheating!, for those of you who might know how.

Gene...if you know then say it! It's okay to be a local. You pick the next picture if you win.

I say it is...
Angel Island State Park (Ayala Cove) San Francisco, CA.
Here is my submission...
Note: it is behind it's own lock to maintain water level in the marina to 8ft.

At 20 ft wide, a lot of you multi-hull guys have to stay outside :^)
Funny thing... it is 80 ft long but they say they will take boats that are longer? probably bow sprits and such.

http://www.scyachtclub.com/marina.htm
One of the best preserved secrets of Windmill Harbour is the lock system which connects the marina to the Intracoastal Waterway and Calibogue Sound. The lock is 80' long and 20' feet wide, and can accommodate any craft falling within that size range, or even longer, but no wider! Holding 130,000 gallons of water during low tide, the lock is operated by a hydraulic pump, and controlled by hydraulic rams on the doors. Two tunnels located on the north side of the lock are closed off by jackscrew-operated valves and contain check valves on the inside to monitor the water flow. At high tide, the pull of gravity automatically replenishes the water supply in the marina by drawing it through the tunnels. This prototype lock system is one of only three located on the eastern seaboard and its benefits to boat owners are many. It allows for less wear and tear on vessels at dockage caused by rising and falling tides, as well as preventing tidal currents which can hinder the docking process. The restricted flow of fresh tidal water restricts exposure to marine life such as pesky barnacles, which in turn reduces the amount of bottom maintenance normally required on a boat stored in the water. The harbour itself, protected form wind and currents, becomes a safe haven.
I studied the buildings and they looked like U.S. styles, even East coast, looked at the mixed type of boats. Did some googling, found out alot about locks and marinas in England. Ready to take a Narrow boat tour in the UK sometime now. After 20-30 google pages and following many links.....Voila.... Now I have to come up with an interesting photo!
Gene...have you had Strathbelle in there, looks a little tight.

SeaKing,
You got it!! I have not been by boat or person but I really like looking at it and the idea of it. Kind of fun.
Probably too tight for Strathbelle and unfortunately not deep enough since she draws 8.5ft. I'll have to dinghy in someday :^)
