"Boat on a Wave" by Peter Max:

I actually have #81 of this limited-edition print on the wall in my kitchen. It lived for many years on the forward saloon bulkhead of my old 45' cutter.

Crazy right? It's like two thousand years old? Just need some delicious garum and we'll be good to go!

Steven Callahan - Adrift

An amazing story of triumph over adversity that should be on any sailor's list. I first read it as a teenager and have hit it up a couple times since. This book has had a huge impact on both my practical outlook as a sailor and my character as a person. A truly profound work.

A talented artist and inventor in his own right, the author illustrated the book and has gone on to have a successful career as a multihull designer, go figure! Also designer of the FRIB, a really smart idea for a dinghy intended to also function as a life raft, with the ability to make way for self rescue.
