Fugitives Starved to Death on Yacht

"A fugitive British couple found dead on board a stolen yacht off the coast of Africa probably starved to death, an inquest in Truro has heard....................Their emaciated bodies were found on a yacht in 2006 with no provisions or fresh water on board. Cornwall Coroner Dr Emma Carlyon recorded an open verdict"

"a diary entry suggested they had run out of water and had four weeks without food...........diary also revealed they were caught in a storm and the sail was torn............It read: "We have been bashed about for days.............."Peter is collapsed in bed. I have been unable to get to him............."I am tired now and the light's going. My heart and love goes out to my daughters and to my immediate family."

I’m constantly amazed where you dig this stuff up from Dave, but it’s a darn sight more interesting to read than somebody who’s whining about why a new owner won’t changing their boat name.
This is an incredible story of uncredible people. I wouldn’t want to have been the first man to board that boat.
Keep ‘em coming mate.

ripped straight from another forum and in all today's UK press......

.....I now recall that this did get a thread a while back, just at the time with more of a Pirate angle (which the coroner now seems to have discounted).

Seems they both had a problem with reality, mainly with it arriving.

Santana, your comment is disgusting and disgraceful. The fugitives who took the boat suffered enough, and so have their families. Your contribution is simply nasty.

Nasty are the low life scum that don't have the morals and decency to work hard and earn they're money like the rest of us, They are nothing but PIRATES nad desrve nothing better than wha they recieved. At least they weren't tarred and feathered and hung in a gibeer like they used ti be, What a shame people want to feel sorry for PIRATES, How about the family that worked hard and saved they're money in order to HONESTLY buy the boat, that's who you ghouls feel sorry for

It would appear that the couple earned the wages of sin (death); or, as Elbert Hubbard once observed: "Men are not punished for their sins, but by them."

Santana is merely guilty of saying what many were thinking. This would make a very good "Twilight Zone" plot.

considering the state of the bodies, the father-in-law's assessment of Clarke as an "absolute rotter" was precient.

Do you remember the tv show around 1990 called "Tales of the unexpected" Perfect for that too.

Chacon a son gout. I'd prefer to lose a boat than to have people die like that. Then again, I like french-fries.

I would disagree. At least what little info that is in the news papers says they stole two boats, and possibly defrauded many other people. If the newspaper is to be belived, they were theives, and died in the commision of a crime.

As such, good riddence to bad rubbish.

kinda sounds like this thread should have been titled "I want a big cheap boat" also... They wanted and stole one... Maybe they should have learned to sail first....
